I am Ghazi from a most affected village person as the heavy monsoon rainfall of 2020 caused flooding which brought heavy losses in our village Kareem Khan located in Union Council Soofan Shah, Taluka Dighri and District Mirpurkhas. The village communities have been completely displaced from their homes as well as from the village. The heavy monsoon rain damage to crops, roads and animals perished. There was deep water having depth of 4 to 6 feet in the houses and crops. In village many houses collapsed particularly the source of water and sanitation. We could not pick up the utensils and basic items of needed. The rain water proved a nursery for the mosquito and it was impossible to take rest in night even before the sunset. In this situation, there were four dire and most felt needs like latrines, clean drinking water, utensils and mosquito nets including soaps and hygiene items for women and girls.
Indeed, it was great blessing for us that Advocacy, Research, Training and Services (ARTS) Foundation teams reached at our village and extended their support by providing the hygiene kits consisting on Mosquito Nets, Soaps, Jerry Can for drinking Water, Tarpaulin Sheet, Pads for Women and Girls along this ARTS Foundation team provided Temporary Latrines for the affected communities which brought safety for women and girls as well clean environment around us.
I will quote that we are very thankful to ARTS Foundation as well as the generous support of Philanthropists under GlobalGiving as they reached to us and provided very needed support in a sensitive time and condition. Indeed, ARTS Foundation is very thankful to the philanthropists for making this work possible through their generous online funding and support.
