Sustaining Healthier Futures for Bajau Children

By Mira Kim | Head of International Cooperation Team

Dear Supporters,

Warm greetings from the U9change Team.

In June, we shared that essential health kits had reached all the Bajau communities in our expansion plan, including an additional remote settlement. As we enter the final months of 2026, our focus is on making that reach meaningful over time.

From Expanded Reach to Consistent Support

Access to hygiene supplies matters most when families can rely on it. Our work now centers on sustaining kit distribution and supporting the community volunteers trained to monitor local needs. Their involvement helps keep the program connected to the families it serves.

We are also looking beyond the supplies themselves. Practical guidance on handwashing, personal hygiene, safe water, and disease prevention can help parents and caregivers build healthy habits at home. Developing useful, accessible educational materials remains a priority for the months ahead.

The People Behind the Progress

The mother’s story we shared in June—of her children experiencing fewer illnesses after receiving regular hygiene supplies—continues to guide our work. It reminds us why consistency matters and why we must listen closely to families as the program develops.

We hope to share more community feedback and a clearer account of the program’s reach in a future report. For now, we remain committed to learning from the volunteers and families who know these communities best.

Thank you for making this work possible. Your partnership helped extend essential support to remote settlements; it now helps us work toward a future in which Bajau children and families can count on that support and strengthen healthy practices of their own.

With sincere gratitude,
