Building a sustainable playground for 842 students in most underprivileged district in Rwanda. This playground will be build in the school's land to create a space for children to connect, play and grow while they attend school. This playground will encourage more children in nearby villages to attend the school. These villages have no electricity or running water. Some of the children walk up to 2 hours a day to get to school.
There is no playground in any of the villages in this district. No space for children to connect and develop their social, mental, and physical skills. The land in school which children use for running around is very uneven and full of debris. Many children only work which is breaking rocks with hammer and they do not attend school after work. The mentality of the locals about play is negative and they consider playing as being naughty.
This playground will provide a space for children to connect, make sense of the world, and deal with trauma. Play will support them with their cognitive learning, social, mental, and physical learning. Playground will also encourage the worker children to attend school in the evening after work. We involve the community in the project to raise awareness about the importance of play.
Play will support children mental development and help them with their imagination and problem solving. They will be able to deal with life challenges more powerfully and grow into happier adults. More children will enrol into school and get education.
