Project Report: Inclusion in Action — Deaf Super League Multan 2025
In September 2025, the Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) brought together more than 90 Deaf athletes from across Pakistan for the Deaf Super League (DSL) in Multan — a five-day celebration of talent, inclusion, and confidence building for the Deaf community.
This league, held from 23rd to 27th September, was more than a sports event. It was a statement: opportunity transforms lives.
A Movement That Started With a Dream
When DWAF launched DSL in 2018, we envisioned a platform where Deaf youth could experience recognition, leadership, and the pride of representing their community. Over the years, DSL has grown into Pakistan’s first and only professional cricket league for the Deaf — a symbol of empowerment and resilience.
-
DSL 2018 in Lahore gathered ~400 spectators and earned support from PTCL, FINCA, Qarshi, and others.
-
DSL 2019 grew to ~600 attendees with sponsors like Allied Bank, ChenOne, KFC, and Coca-Cola.
-
After the COVID years, DWAF rebuilt, formalized the Deaf Cricket Academy, and returned stronger for 2025.
DSL 2025: A New Chapter in Multan
Hosted in partnership with DHA Multan, PARCO, Jazz Cash, GlobalGiving, and DWAF, this year’s league created nationwide visibility for Deaf athletes. Jazz committed lifetime media coverage, ensuring that the voices and achievements of Deaf youth will continue to reach new audiences every year.
The league brought together players, coaches, volunteers, families, and the community — all united by a belief that Deaf youth deserve equal access to opportunity.
What Donor Support Made Possible
Because of your generosity, DSL 2025 delivered impact far beyond the cricket ground:
-
90+ Deaf players received professional training, coaching, and exposure.
-
Athletes gained new confidence, leadership skills, and recognition within their communities.
-
DWAF expanded its outreach for employment opportunities for Deaf youth in textiles and other industries.
-
The event strengthened partnerships with organizations working on inclusion, linking sports with livelihood and empowerment.
A shining example is the long-term impact of DSL partnerships:
Sapphire, once a DSL sponsor, now employs 50+ Deaf individuals — proving that visibility can shift mindsets and create sustainable change.
Community Impact & National Relevance
DSL contributes directly to Pakistan’s goals for inclusion:
-
SDG 3: Well-being and healthy lifestyles
-
SDG 8: Decent work and economic opportunities
-
SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
-
SDG 17: Partnerships for sustainable development
Moreover, DSL aligns with the State Bank of Pakistan’s financial inclusion policy for PWDs, providing a real-world model for corporate commitment to disability inclusion.
A Story From the Ground
One of our young players from Bahawalpur shared:
“This is the first time I felt that people watched me not as someone who cannot speak — but as someone who can win.”
This shift in identity — from limitation to potential — is exactly what DSL strives to create.
A Future We’re Building Together
DWAF organizes DSL every three years, and each league opens new doors for employment, leadership, and social acceptance.
Your support helps us keep this mission alive.
Because of you, Deaf youth stand on a national stage with pride.
Because of you, employers now recognize the talent of this community.
Because of you, inclusion is turning into reality — one match, one player, one opportunity at a time.
Thank You
Your generosity makes stories like these possible.
We are deeply grateful for the trust and support of the GlobalGiving family.
Together, we are not just playing a game — we are changing futures.
