Our ecosystem worldwide is in danger due to industrialization and expanding human settlements, including mangroves. Mangrove forests are essential for the well-being of the planet. They store carbon 4x better than rainforests and also protect coastline settlements from storms, typhoons, and tsunamis, able to break their waves up to 80%. Yet in Indonesia, since the 1980s, 30% of mangrove forests have been destroyed, that is, 1 million ha. We invite you to replant these mangroves and forests.
1 million Ha of mangrove forests and tens of millions of rainforests in Indonesia have been destroyed since the 1980's. That brings detriment to the environment and society. Opportunity for carbon storage is lost, further perpetuating global warming. Coastline and forest communities are also left with less protection, as mangrove trees break incoming waves up to 80%, neutralizing most of their impact on the coastline, and forests prevent landslides and floodings.
Our project will provide trees, the planting, and supervision of mangrove and forest ecosystems, reviving them and brining their full benefits to the planet and society. We will also guide locals to guard, flourish, and take profit from the mangroves and forests, empowering their lives while safeguarding the ecosystem at the same time.
The coastlines of Indonesia, especially the western coasts of Sumatra which suffered the brunt of the 2004 Tsunami, will be better protected, and communities safeguarded. We can also reduce the carbon amount of the atmosphere and gradually reverse global warming, and in doing so improve the condition of the planet.
