Even the rainy weather of the day before couldn’t stop us as we began the spring planting season 2017 last week. We open the volunteer program through social networks and we had so many aplications, This allowed us to start sooner our planting season and volunteer with 15 people from our community.
But..., Volunteers? How important are they?
Volunteers, they represent Proforestal at city wide events, Proforestal, has two other programs: urban gardening and birdwatching, that usually held outdoors.
Volunteers help us get the word out about these programs and events Proforestal offers in order to make San Luis Potosì City greener, and healthier place to live.
Volunteers usually attend a training session and one event per month. Interested people email us or send us a private message on social networks. The next training session is June 28.
The tree planting event was a terrific way to open the 2017 planting season. We cant wait to see more volunteers throughout the spring to help us reach our 2500 trees planted goal by 2017.
It was a great start to the season, and we continued to plant at San Luis Potosì City this past Saturday. Our volunteers braved the chilly temps once again to help continue to restore, reforest, and perform erosion control by planting 250 trees around Universidad Politecnica. This is the first round of reforestation that Proforestal has started with a big amount of trees (250).
While we have to plant a big amount of trees or this year, we thank you for you great support to our urban forest program. We`ll keep you updated.
