In the middle of this year, we started a new chapter of our initiative to green the city "Green Schools". As the name implies, the purpose is to bring green spaces to schools with a small number of trees to improve the health of children who attend them.
Trees, especially in these warm urban areas, reduce the risks of heat stroke, pollution, wasted energy from air conditioning, soil erosion and more. They bring people together, cool the city, provide food and shade, and create a cleaner air for all of us. We believe that trees need people and people need trees, and that relationship is stronger in the schools of San Luis Potosí.
Our work at the Green Schools Initiative this year has been fantastic and now the planting season is increasing! These are the plantations that we expect: November 10: 75 trees to plant, November 29: 25 trees to plant, December 13: 25 trees will be planted in collaboration with a local company.
The end of this planting season will be in May 2020, we will have planted more than 500 trees as part of this initiative; At a time when social equity and environmentalism are so deeply intertwined, we cannot express how grateful we are to all who have come and will come to support Green Schools. All of you are and will be friends with the new trees that will support your communities. We could not do this job without our volunteers, and if you want to join us, confirm your attendance through our calendar of events today!
