Trees in urban areas provide a multitude of landscape, environmental benefits (purification of urban air, as they act as pollutant filters and act as carbon sinks mitigating the effect of climate change) and social (acting as acoustic screens of characteristic noise from urban areas), among others. To be able to enjoy these benefits, it is necessary to establish an adequate management of the existing woodland and to carry out an adequate distribution of the new woodland.
Therefore, trees are elements that play an important role in the urban plot. Despite this, it is a mistake to believe that the solution for good woodland management lies in planting a large number of them in streets and green areas. This is because, being living beings, they require sufficient space to develop properly, so that the solution would reside not in planting many trees per inhabitant, but in developing an adequate tree cover to the population. As important as good planning and management of green areas, is the maintenance of them, to avoid possible damage caused by trees.
Therefore, in order to enjoy all the benefits provided by the green areas, the first point to be treated when developing a wooded area in the city would be the identification of the needs of each of the tree species, in order to Know the requirements and requirements of each of them and establish the option that best suits the conditions of the environment. In this way, it would be possible to optimize the dedication and maintenance costs of wooded areas, without reducing the benefits provided to society by them
In our urban woodland program we have a follow-up of trees to verify survival for 3 consecutive months after planting and we maintain them for 3 more months; This includes watering them, cleaning the strains, removing weeds and replacing, where appropriate, plants that did not survive.
Fortunately we have had a survival greater than 90% in the trees we have planted and we have only continued with the cleaning and irrigation of the strains.
Since the beginning of our program we have had the participation of volunteers and companies in our activities. We take this opportunity to thank you for your support in kind and in cash.
In our last event we have done cleaning, irrigation and plant replacement and we thank the companies that participated with us.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL!
