By Josina Shields-Stromsness | MECA Program Director
Thanks to your generous support, MECA in partnership with Stop the Wall and the Palestinian Farmer's Union was able to purchase 1600 olive saplings and help plant them in Palestinian villages.
This project is an act of solidarity and aims at strengthening the steadfastness of affected rural communities who have trees uprooted, poisoned, or lands at risk of confiscation by illegal Israeli settlers and settlement expansion.
Trees were planted in 5 villages in the northern areas of the occupied West Bank.
This project also has an economic and environmental impact helping farmers to continue to support themselves by cultivating their lands and planting new, indigenous trees that are good for the environment.
We were very pleased to receive a contribution from a business this year that wanted to plant trees to offset their carbon footprint.
It is the start of planting season now so we will be reaching out soon about our plans for planting more trees in Palestine with your support and solidarity!
