With gratitude for your support, we are pleased to share an update on our programs in Haiti. Because of your generosity, Partners In Health Haiti is able to reach more families with the health care and support that they need in order to recover from disasters and prepare for the next hurricane season, just around the corner.
During the past year, Partners In Health has provided treatment to almost 9,300 children suffering from malnutrition. Once enrolled, patients receive lifesaving ready-to-use therapeutic food called Nourimanba, using peanuts grown in Haiti by local farmers and produced at our local facility. In addition, children receive comprehensive health care services, follow-up check-ups, and social assistance for the family when necessary--all free of charge.
Also throughout last year, PIH reached approximately 50,000 expectant mothers with pre- and post-natal care as well as access to safe, attended childbirths. PIH Haiti clinicians performed more than 6,000 lifesaving C-sections, ensuring a safe and happy future for mothers and families.
Throughout PIH-supported clinics and hospitals, clinical staff completed almost 2.4 million outpatient visits--providing care for everything from malaria, to trauma response, to cancer treatment.
Through our network of PIH trained and employed 2,450 Community Health Workers in Haiti, we are able to provide compassionate health care and hope to some of the world's poorest, most vulnerable people. Simultaneously, stimulation of the local economy occurs thanks to the creation of thousands of jobs.
We couldn't do this work without you. On behalf of our patients and staff in Haiti and around the world, thank you for accompanying us in our mission to save and improve the lives of the world's most vulnerable people.
