Dear Friends, PHASE Nepal team has been working continuously to support its project communities to ensure quality education in the schools in Himalayan communities. Since the severity of COVID-19 has subsided owing to the wider coverage of vaccination, the school sector is reviving. PHASE team of educators is giving their full efforts to support the project schools. Here is a short update of our recent activities to which PHASE Nepal's institutional donors and individual supporters like you have contributed.

Teachers Training in Bajura
PHASE Nepal team successfully ran two different events of training for the teachers of Bichhya village. Focusing on child-friendly and gender inclusive and group-oriented learning, the school teachers were equipped with the essential skills that can be implemented right into the classroom even in a low-resource setting. During the training, a total of 53 teachers participated with the active participation of 18 female teachers.

Training at Kathmandu University
PHASE Nepal collaborating with the professors of the Kathmandu University for learning and sharing skills co-facilitated a 5-day of training on progressive and project-based teaching methods for the teachers of 6 schools from Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, and Kathmandu. Our team will further work closely with the highly experienced faculty and experts of Kathmandu University. We will learn and transfer the practices to bring visible changes in the remotely located project schools. During the event, 18 teachers learned and practiced improved teaching methods and the use of an integrated curriculum to help children link their classroom activities with their daily life.

As a part of this new initiative, the project team has already replicated the training in Gram Sudhar Basic School a remotely located school in the foothill of Tarkeshwor, a neighboring town of Kathmandu, conducting a 5 days training for 11 teachers.

The Principal of Gram Sudhar basic School shared his experience after the training. “This training course is the most practical one that can be immediately implemented in the classroom. It has been very easy and stress-free because we are preplanned to engage students in group work and many other interactive activities related to the curriculum.

One of the students of class 8 shared, “Nowadays classroom is fun! We learn by discussing in groups. Before we were asked to memorize a lot. But now we learn from our peers in a group and the teacher guides us to reach the conclusion.”

With the successful implementation of the child-friendly teaching techniques, the contents will be further adapted to the remote and low-resourced schools in PHASE's remote project areas.

We would like to thank you and proudly share with you that your donations are bringing changes in the lives of the neediest people in the remote communities of Nepal. We look forward to continuous support.
