The Phanor Seed Youth-led Environmental and Peacebuilding Project fosters a sense of belonging in diverse societies by working directly with peasant, Afro-descendant, and Indigenous communities. We begin from these three roots, creating a shared space where we affirm that peace is built through interethnic unity and that protecting the environment is our shared responsibility. Through empowering youth to become leaders, our project creates sustainable change for future generations.
In Colombia, rural communities face climate change and conflict despite low responsibility. Social leaders are often targeted or killed, spreading fear and discouraging participation. This weakens community-led processes, deters youth from speaking out, and undermines democracy, peacebuilding, and long-term resilience in the regions where it is needed most.
Phanor Seed shifts leadership from individuals to communities, especially youth. Through workshops on rights, environment, peace, and self-protection, young people learn to organize safely and engage institutions. Knowledge is shared and replicated, making leadership collective, resilient, and harder to silence, while promoting civic engagement and structural change.
Phanor is Seed cultivates youth and community members to defend life, land, and rights collectively and nonviolently. Within 1-5 years, it builds shared leadership, fosters safe civic participation, strengthens trust with institutions, and launches youth-led advocacy, creating early networks of resilient, engaged communities that can sustain impact over time.
