Program Object

To persuade the parents of less privileged rural community to educate their children and make them aware about the necessity and advantages of education in building up the future.

Current Situation

Generally in India especially in less privileged rural community parents of children do not give importance to education of their children. This is mainly because of economic reason and lack of knowledge and awareness, and because of this they do not send their children to school especially Girl child instead they send them to fields to work as child labor and earns some money for themselves.

What we did to improve the situation

Parents are persuaded by counseling individually, in group discussions and through adult education where the advantages of school education for their children are explained and how it helps in the development of the children personality and their future. How the children become a responsible citizen of the country and earn their livelihood as an independent citizen. In villages it has been experienced that the group discussions and counseling are the effective tools for persuasion and making them agree to adopt education as a tool for development of their children.

Result

Generally the children from rural less privileged families start coming to school for education. The economic position which is the major handicap in sending the children is tackled on the need based basis by the management by giving subsidized or entirely free education. Free winter dresses and other educational material is given so as to motivate them to come to school during the winter season also as they cannot afford the expenses of winter clothes etc.

Change in Beneficiary’s Life

Ram Babu a daily wage earner who is living under BPL and having four children named Gayatri, Seema, Rajesh and Bhola could not send the children to school because of poverty and was not in position to meet school education expenses. The children were going to fields along with parents and were working as child labor. The management during the survey came to know about this family and persuaded Ram Babu to send their children to BDP School. Two children were given free education and the balance two on subsidizes tuition. So all the four children start coming to school and completed the education.  They also went for higher education after completing the education at BDP School. The children were very bright and took keen interest and their performance was good. Their parents were very happy and appreciated the help render to them. Had this would have not been done there was no possibility that their children could have gone for higher education instead may be working as laborer throughout their life especially to the girl children.

In BDP School 70 % children from poor families are given such facilities for free tuition fees and other expenses are subsidized as per the needs.
