There is a big correlation between "Health and Education". Sound health plays a big role in education and achievement levels of the children. In rural India the health is neglected by their parents in less privileged Indian families because of financial constraints, lack of knowledge and lack of necessary medical facilities within their reach. This results in often sickness, poor health of the children and generally they remain physically weak. Frequent illness of the children makes their attendance poor, irregular in studies. This also de motivates them towards the studies.
To overcome this problem right in the beginning of the academic session PES gets all the students and staff of BDP School medically examined for the following by the qualified medical team of Doctors.
Medically deficient children are advised for necessary medical treatment so that they get themselves treated for the illness and remain fit throughout the year. This results in regular attendance without frequent breaks and motivates the children for studies.
Beneficiaries:
Staff and 350 boys and girls of BDP School, Village Barauli, Block Baldev, District Mathura, U.P. India are the main beneficiaries in this project, as all of them are examined in the beginning of the academic session and once again after six months. The health card for medical record of each student is maintained and is handed over to the parents. During examination 20 students were found minor medically deficient and initial medical treatments were given to these students in the school during examination by medical team and 5 students were found seriously affected were referred for the treatment in the super specialty hospitals.
General lectures were also given by medical team to all students and their parents in batches for different health requirements to keep the child healthy and to make them aware of do's and don’ts in to their day to day living. PES also distributed free Medical Kits to the medically deficient children as per the advice of the medical team to the needy students.
A specific case of Kumari Renu aged 12 years student of class 8th resident of village Barauli, Block Baldev, District Mathura, U.P. India were found deficient in hearing during general checkup and was referred for treatment. She was not coming to the school regularly and was not taking interest in studies.
