Importance of Education to Rural Children in Under Privileged Families.

By K.M. Paliwal | Secretary

Parents Counselling Program for Children Education
Parents Counselling Program for Children Education

As the parents of children from less privileged families are less literate/ practically illiterate, they do not give importance to education and hence they do not send the children to school at their own and prefer to take them to the fields along with them for work which generates more money and they get help from them while working in the fields. In such a situation the parents need counseling and they are to be told the importance of education for future of their children, so as to develop them as a responsible citizen of the country and become independent in living without a liability on the family. This will not only develop the children but their future generations also. The education is to be provided on less expense or no expenses depending upon the affordability by the family. When such convincing situation is created the parents will agree to send their children to school for education and will understand the importance of the same. This will secure the future of the children and the family as a whole and generations to come.

To eradicate illiteracy and bring literacy it is important that adult education we brought in practice. PES worked in this direction and hold Adult Education classes in rural India for rural population. The parents of children both male female attend such programs and they are told the Importance and benefits of education. More of the advantages of value added education, how it is beneficial for the development of the children side by side earn some money by doing skilled work at home which is possible by giving additional training along with the education in the school such as:

  1. Tailoring Training
  2. Handicrafts
  3. Computer Education
  4. Music & Sports Training

The result of conducting Adult Education programs and counseling helped in increasing the strength of students in BDP School Barauli, Block Baldev, District Mathura, UP India in the range of 25% to 30% in various classes. The details of the enrollment of students in various classes for the academic session 2014-15 are given below.

A girl “Radha” from the under privileged family persuaded to come to school and got excellence reward for the merits she achieved during education at school. This girl was sitting at home and was a dropped out students from the school could not continue the studies because of financials problem in the family. She was bright in studies after passing out from the school went for higher studies and completed her education from Agra university Agra U.P. India. She completed her education by earning from tuitions and stitching the clothes of villagers. She was appointed as a teacher in B.D.P. school from where she passed class 8th. She was good in teaching and students were very happy with her and were motivated to see her self-built up carrier. Radha is one of the examples of girls who have passed out from B.D.P. students.

The major problem in the rural areas is that the people are poor and living under BPL, they preferred to take their children to the fields where they are working to earn extra daily wages. From this practice their children suffers and remain deprived of education and their carrier is blocked. By Adult Education program the importance and necessity of education for the future of their children was counseled to them by carrying out different programs and they were persuaded to send to their children to school and put them on a right track for their development which makes them self reliant, independent in their living, a responsible citizen of the country who in turn becomes partner in contribution for the development of the country.
