Project

Educate and create awareness amongst parents of rural community

The Project conducted under the mission of Psycho Educational Society – EDUCATE THE LESS PRIVILEGED RURAL COMMUNITY

Purpose of the Project

Educate and make rural children parents aware about the importance of education and the role it plays in development and career building of the children.  Parents should take keen interest and send their children to school for education.

Current Situation

All parents of rural less privileged children are not fully aware about the importance of education in child career development.  Therefore, they are not very keen to send them to school instead they take them to work in fields or engaged them in house work.

And the end result is that children’s are deprived of education and remain uneducated and are left to do the labour jobs throughout their life.

What we did to improve the situation

  1. A Special education programmes were designed by employing need based techniques to educate Adult population under Adult Education Programme.
  2. Awareness camps arranged for rural community people.  A special educators and children career building programme experts took part and interact with the parents. Various films were shown. Education lectures were arranged in groups.
  3. The faculty people discussed and counseled the individual parents and suggested the solution of their problems because of which they are unable to send their children to school.
  4. Vocational training courses were added in the formal educational curriculum which trained the students to learn money generated skills.

Result

  1. Rural community parents appreciated the measures taken and understood the importance of education.
  2. Parents started the children’s to school in good percentage in place of taking them with themselves for work in the fields.
  3. The girl student’s starts coming to school instead remain at home and do the household activities. Increase in percentage is around 40%.
  4. The student start getting value added education in the school learnt cooking, tailoring, music by attending vocational training classes.
  5. By learning and practically employing the skills, girl students started earning money which added to their family income and they become asset to the family.
