Help Women Persevere Through Change

When you support Women’s Employment Network (WEN), you’re supporting empowered choices for women in Kansas City. At WEN, women who are unemployed, underemployed, and/or trapped in the cycle of poverty have access to resources designed to help them pursue career advancement, financial security, and personal wellbeing. Our organization provides options that suit every need and lifestyle.

WEN continues to offer the three-week Three Pillars to Success in-person course (est. 2022), empowering women to focus on themselves, recommit to their goals, and renew their passion as they take steps toward financial independence. After two years spent refining this on-site program, we’re preparing to roll out its complement and the newest option for clients: the online WEN Anytime program.

WEN Anytime fosters connection and encourages networking among participants in a flexible and accessible four-week online training module designed to equip women with the tools, knowledge, and insights they need to pursue their desired career.

In this program, participants will…

• Strengthen workplace skills including communication with peers and supervisors.
• Develop professional skills including remote collaboration and adaptability.
• Enhance personal skills including time management, stress management, and goal setting.
• Improve interview skills.
• Create a personal budget.

This Year's Goals

WEN’s 2024-25 series of programs and services is underway, taking place July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. We’re working to achieve three targeted objectives this year:

• Demonstrate program relevancy by engaging 1,000 new clients.
• Improve employment and financial management skills for 1,400 clients through program and service delivery including workshops, customized individual services, and financial coaching.
• Improve the financial stability of 200 clients through one-on-one financial coaching and education.

When you support Women’s Employment Network (WEN), you support connection for women. Here, women build rapport with our staff and with one another, forming valuable and lasting social and professional networks.

Our donors’ generous gifts are hard at work! This year, WEN staff focused on deepening their engagement with clients. Our efforts paid off: 30% of clients had three or more interactions with staff – an increase of 8% over last year. Through this work, we encourage women to establish positive, long-term relationships with our staff and continue to use WEN as a resource to support goal setting, financial management, networking, and career success.

WEN continues to offer the three-week Three Pillars to Success course (est. 2022), empowering women to focus on themselves, recommit to their goals, and renew their passion as they take steps toward financial independence. After two years spent refining this in-person program, we’re preparing to launch a new hybrid option in the year ahead for those who are unable to attend daytime programming.

Progress to Date

WEN’s 2023-24 series of programs and services took place July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. We are thrilled to share these outcomes from our just-complete program year:

• WEN served 1,115 unduplicated clients – including 878 new clients! – in 2023-24.
• 112 women received 1:1 coaching with WEN’s professional financial advisors.
• 1,501 clients attended 122 workshops on a variety of topics including Resume Tips to Get You Noticed, Mastering Effective Communication, and How to Set (and Achieve!) Great Goals.
• WEN served an average of 147 activeclients each month during this program year, exceeding our goal to serve at least 125 active clients every month.
