When Hurricanes Helene and Milton hit the coasts of North Carolina and Florida, they left communities facing enormous challenges. In the aftermath, one critical need has often been overlooked: access to period products for the women and girls who are working to rebuild their lives. Periods don't stop during a crisis, and for many displaced women, managing their health with dignity becomes difficult when essential supplies are scarce.
When Hurricanes Helene and Milton struck North Carolina and Florida, they caused widespread devastation, displacing families and damaging communities. As recovery efforts began, an urgent need emerged for essential period products among the women and girls affected.
Fihri Foundation hosted two impactful Period Palooza events, partnering with Northeastern University and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts to support hurricane survivors. Together, we packed and distributed essential period kits to those in need. We sent 8,800 period products so far, help us send more.
