Dear Friend,
We began with the vision of an equitable world - one where no girl is deprived of her education or obstructed from reaching her full potential due to a natural process like menstruation. Unfortunately, this is a harsh reality for many in Kenya.
However, we have the power to change this narrative. As we approach Menstrual Hygiene Day, we have set a formidable goal to raise $30,000 to eliminate period poverty in our partner schools. Our progress has been slow, with a total of $107 raised so far, but we remain steadfast, believing in the power of collective action.
The funds raised are intended to establish period banks in four schools across Kilifi, Kwale, Turkana, and Samburu counties. These banks will act as hubs to provide menstrual hygiene products and educational resources to 850 girls.
Our campaign is not just about raising donations; it's about investing in a girl's future. By ensuring access to these essential products, we aim to create a safe space for girls to learn about menstrual hygiene, thereby contributing to their overall health and well-being.
Our most significant accomplishment will be to provide these girls with the opportunity to attend school with dignity, free from the constraints of period poverty.
We urge you to join us in this transformative initiative. Together, we can empower girls and young women in Kenya and make a tangible difference. Contributions will be acknowledged across our platforms.
Our mission is clear: make period poverty a thing of the past.
In solidarity with girls always,
Joy Zawadi
