By Robin Gibson | Inclusion and Self-Advocacy Lead
Thank you for your generous support. Your donation is helping us make sure people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities are included in important decisions that affect their lives.
With your help, we are using the Listen Include Respect Guidelines to show organisations how to include people with intellectual disabilities in their work. We have self-advocates to become consultants who will support organisations like governments to listen to people with intellectual disabilities. This will help decisions better reflect their needs.
Your support has also allowed us to work on important consultancy projects. For example, we helped create a guide with the UN Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and gave feedback on a toolkit about gender-based violence for UNICEF. We’ve also reviewed a human rights reporting tool in Paraguay and tested the accessibility of an international disability website. These projects ensure people with intellectual disabilities are part of conversations and decisions on a global scale.
We've also translated the guidelines into Arabic, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Chinese. This way, even more people and organisations worldwide can use them to make their work inclusive.
Your contribution is helping us create a world where everyone’s voice matters. Thank you for being a part of this important work.
Best wishes,
Robin
