People with Down syndrome speaking up worldwide

Challenge

People with Down syndrome often have a limited voice in the decisions and changes that affect them. Decisions are often made without them, which leads to bad projects, policies and practices that do not take into account what they need to be included in their communities.

Solution

This project will provide opportunities and support to people with Down syndrome to speak up for themselves and other people with Down syndrome or other disabilities. This can be at an individual, local, national or international level. It will support people with Down syndrome to develop their skills, knowledge and self-confidence to be able to engage with people effectively, take part in work or social situations, and understand their rights and responsibilities.

Long-Term Impact

For many people with Down syndrome, speaking up has a profound impact on their lives - providing them with the confidence to take control and participate in their communities. By having a say in the decisions and changes that affect them, they can improve the lives of people with Down syndrome or other disabilities, contributing to a more fair and inclusive world for everyone.
