I hope you are all doing well.
Thank you for your continued support to Down Syndrome International.
The funding we receive through GlobalGiving will now be used towards “People with Down syndrome speaking up worldwide”. This is the first report since we made that change.
Down Syndrome International has been busy working directly with people with Down syndrome and supporting them to raise their voice around the globe.
The World Down Syndrome Congress
This year the World Down Syndrome Congress took place in Brisbane, Australia.
There were over a 1000 delegates there. People with Down syndrome, family members and professionals for 45 countries.
From the start, people with Down syndrome were involved in the planning and delivery of the event.
In the day before the conference, a Self-Advocacy forum was held. Over 150 people with Down syndrome attended. They spoke about their lives, their work and advocated for positive change.
The main conference took place over 3 days and there was a huge amount of people with Down syndrome presenting on many topics. We heard about
We were also happy that four of the DSi Ambassador committee were able to meet in person for the first time. Andrew Oswin from New Zeland, Charlotte Woodward from The United States of America, Morgan Maze from Indonesia and Andrew Domahidy from Australia.
The Ambassador committee help Down Syndrome International include people with Down syndrome better. We have Ambassadors working on our high-level strategic teams, including our Board of Trustees.
