Report #14

Dear Friends of the APF Fondwa Clinic in Haiti:

We are pleased to send you a report on the first quarter of 2024. If you keep up with the news from Haiti, you know it has been a challenging time in the capital. But, here in the mountains of the South, we are still able to do our work.

The Fondwa clinic operates Monday to Friday (and sometimes on Saturday if necessary), from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a medical team on hand to address emergencies at all times. Vaccinations take place every second and third Thursday of the month, when we take the opportunity to raise parents' awareness of certain topics that can help them, their children, their families and their environment. During these past three months, we raised parents' awareness of the importance of breast milk for children, for the environment and for the family, by giving children breast milk at least for 6 months.

During the first quarter, we had 229 patients: 81 clinic consultations, and 148 for vaccination (children only). The illnesses encountered included acute respiratory infection, malnutrition (only one child thankfully), hypertension, diabetes, injury from accidents, stomach distress, typhiod, UTIs, anemia, skin disorders, dehydration, and parasites.

Without your continuous support, this small, but mighty clinic in the mountains could not continue to serve patients -- patients who would otherwise have no access to health care. Thank You!
