Photo Story by Yasmeen, 14 years
Today, while we sat for our photography class I was a little hesitant in using the camera, I always loved art and drawing. It makes me feel free and relaxed. I can paint and color however I like but with the camera I felt restricted and wondered how can I make a beautiful photograph when these are all ordinary things I see with my eyes everyday.
Our photography instructor noticed I wasn't taking any photos in the group, she came up to me and we talked about my interests. She showed me some images from great photographers all over the world and told me how meaningful photos with stories have the power to reach millions if you had a great story to tell and share.
After our trainers gave us a few tips on light and composition, I started finding a story that I would like to share with friends and other people. I noticed how everything started to seem different, every object and person had a different purpose and meaning.
The picture I took shows my favorite place in my school. During breaks I go up to this terrace and sit to draw while I have my lunch and talk to my friends.
I think from today I have learnt that there are more ways to express yourself other than drawing and painting and everyone has such a different way of looking at things.
