The Massai Tree Nursery in Kenya is so healthy

By jennifer Smith | Project Leader

Massai women love working int he tree nursery
Massai women love working int he tree nursery

Our work in Kenya continues with so much recent growth. We are thrilled to report that the new tree nursery in the village of Enkutoto Nahalala is filling up fast with all kinds of species of baby trees. It feels amazing that the investment we made with this community over 5 years ago is finally proving effective and productive. We believe it is no accident that the trees we have been planting are growing well because of our managed follow up from afar. And the growing trees have created abundant shade, food, water in just 5 short years. The grazing animals are getting fatter, the farmers are earning more money for their livestock, rain is falling more, temperatures are lower, the land is cooling off, more food is growing including fruit slike mabngos and avocadoes, and hope is soaring.

Time is always the test in this work and truly as the trees grow, so does the community commitment. Why? Because the growing trees are lifting the living conditions and the people simply feel it. So they want to engage in more tree planting and follow up care for them because they have enjoyed a personal  experience of success. The youth we trained to collect seeds are activated and this just brinbgs more excitment and commitment to the community.

As we continue to look for funding for this project, we want to impress upon you how grateful we are as you stick with us and give us tiome to grow the humans and the trees for a more positive and bright future for KENYA. Our model is working well and we are more committed than ever. We cannot wait to return and go even bigger with more communities.

We love trees!!
