There is a very strong need for more options that men can use as a way to become more involved in family planning. CCDO works to educate the community to have the proper programs that could find better ways to reach men as individuals and as members of couples using contraceptives through educating couples, information dissemination and discussion on families. Project impacts will include enhanced awareness and knowledge on family planning issues
Male involvement and participation in family planning (FP) is still very low. The barriers for the enrollment of men in FP are said to be; few contraceptive options for men and little knowledge about options by the community, an unfavorable social or religious climate and FP clinic setups are unwelcoming to men. In many traditional settings, young women who use contraceptives are perceived as promiscuous. Both males and women will benefit in this project
To increase more information to men on family planning (FP) methods and available FP option to them and use of different channels of communication in dissemination of FP information in a wide coverage. Increase in FP service accessibility and vailability to men e.g. training of male FP providers to reach men Profile strategies which might promote male involvement and participation in FP like multisectoral collaboration and revisiting FP policies, also considering FP as a cross cutting issue
Enhanced awareness on family planning and contraceptive, increased males knowledge in family planning and contraceptives issues, reduced barriers for involvement and particiaption of males in family planning, reduced religious barriers on family planning and contraceptive use, reduced social stigma and pressure on family planning, raised awareness among adolescents youth on reproductive health and contraceptive promotion, enhanced awareness on unplanned pregnancies, enhanced accessibilty
