Evening Gathering Study

By Jignesh Christi | Project Leader

Dear well-wishers,

Regards from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch.

It is observed that most of the children after school and before school do not touch their note books or any other reading-writing at home. Parents also do not motivate their children to go through with their learning in the school on the day. In our school, where Para Teachers are placed the attendance remains good, only few of the children do not attend school, due to some unavoidable reasons like illness.

The parents have understand the importance of regular sending their children to school which help the children in their learning. But the major concern is the children some time do not do their home works, or revision at home, and the parents also not ask their children to do so.

GVT’s Para Teachers are belongs to the same village where they are teaching, so at few of the village the Para Teachers have started evening gathering for the children, where the nearby street children come at one place and have some games and sit some time for their homework. Few of the elder children, parents and youth also support the children in giving some time to the children who needs some more practice in reading, writing.

The evening time for study helps the children to remember the whole learning which they have learned in school. Also improves their confidence to attend the school on the very next day. As many of the children hesitate to attend the school because of their incomplete homework given by school teachers. The gathering for study really change the scenario of the village, the children in different streets coming together and studying together. Parents also feels proud and encourage their children to sit for some time and study in groups.

Some little steps in children’s learning can change their future. The interest of the children in learning is the prime responsibility of the parents, which we are encouraging.
