The Homeless World Cup is a unique, pioneering social enterprise which exists to end homelessness. It uses football to energise homeless people to change their own lives.
This project will provide travel funding to enable a national team from Palestine to participate in the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup from 21-28 August.
Your contribution to the Homeless World Cup will make an enormous difference for the players from Palestine. Supporting them would include accommodation and documentation to and from the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup. The tournament has a long term impact on participants - it gives them a feeling of inclusion and empowerment. It allows them not only to experience a new country, but also allows them to connect and interact with homeless people from around the world.
Organized by the Palestinian Sport Office in Lebanon, the Palestine Homeless World Cup team is drawn from players residing in the refugee camps of Lebanon, displaced by the ongoing conflict in the region. "These Palestinian camps have suffered hunger, murder and aggression. Today sport is the only outlet for these youths who have experienced such loss." For the Palestine team the aim is simply to be distinguished, honorable and to prove their capabilities to the world in Paris.
