Pakistan Flood Relief Fund

By Mehmood Rind Baloch | Program Manager (BRDP)

Project Title: Pakistan Flood Relief Fund
Implementing Organization: Balochistan Rural Development Program (BRDP)
Fundraising Platform: GlobalGiving
Total Fundraising Target: USD 35,000
Funds Raised to Date: USD 1
Reporting Period: Current Status Update

Context and Humanitarian Need

Pakistan continues to face recurring climate-induced disasters, with floods causing devastating impacts on vulnerable communities. Thousands of families—particularly in rural and low-income areas—have lost homes, livelihoods, food stocks, and access to clean water. Children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities remain at the greatest risk during and after flooding.

The Pakistan Flood Relief Fund was launched by BRDP to provide rapid humanitarian assistance to flood-affected populations, focusing on emergency relief, early recovery, and dignity-based support for families struggling to rebuild their lives.

Current Status of the Project

The project is currently live on the GlobalGiving platform and is in its initial fundraising phase. To date, USD 1 has been raised toward the overall goal of USD 35,000. While the amount mobilized so far is minimal, it marks the formal beginning of this relief effort and signals the need for stronger outreach and collective action.

At this stage, funds have not yet been utilized and will be accumulated until a meaningful threshold is reached to ensure effective and accountable relief delivery.

Planned Relief Interventions

Once sufficient resources are mobilized, BRDP plans to implement the following priority actions in flood-affected areas:

  • Distribution of emergency food packages to displaced and food-insecure families.

  • Provision of essential non-food items, including hygiene kits, bedding, and basic household supplies.

  • Access to clean drinking water and sanitation support to prevent disease outbreaks.

  • Special attention to women, children, and other high-risk groups during relief distribution.

  • Coordination with local communities and volunteers to ensure transparent and needs-based assistance.

Challenges at the Initial Stage

The primary challenge at present is limited visibility and funding for the project despite the ongoing humanitarian need. Competing global crises and donor fatigue have made it more difficult for emergency appeals to gain immediate traction. However, the urgency on the ground remains unchanged.

Way Forward

BRDP is actively working to:

  • Increase project visibility through digital outreach and community networks.

  • Share verified needs assessments and field updates to build donor trust.

  • Engage individual donors, diaspora communities, and institutional partners to mobilize support.

  • Maintain full transparency and accountability through regular GlobalGiving updates.

Call for Solidarity

Flood-affected families in Pakistan are still struggling to recover from immense loss. Even a small contribution can help restore dignity, provide nourishment, and offer hope to those who have lost everything.

We sincerely appeal to donors, supporters, and well-wishers to stand with affected communities by supporting the Pakistan Flood Relief Fund. Your generosity no matter the size—can become a lifeline for families in crisis.

Together, we can transform compassion into action and help communities rebuild with resilience and hope.
