WHO has declared an Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC a public health emergency of international concern. With 80 deaths reported and over 7 million people already displaced by conflict, the scale of need is immense. More than 25 million people across DRC are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. Oxfam has worked in DRC since 1961 and is now deploying a team of experts to the affected areas to provide clean water, sanitation and emergency support. Your donation could make a vital difference.
The DRC has been actively navigating multiple crises, and is now facing an Ebola outbreak in Ituri province. Conflict has displaced over 7 million people, destroying camps and cutting access to food and clean water. Widespread aid cuts are compounding the pressure on millions. Without safe water and sanitation, the risk of Ebola spreading further is severe. Women and girls face particular risks, including gender-based violence.
Oxfam has worked in DRC since 1961 and is now deploying a team of experts to the affected areas. Together with partners, we are providing clean water and basic essentials to those affected, restoring critical infrastructure and treating septic tanks to improve water and sanitation access. Field teams are focusing on awareness raising, information campaigns, health promotion and community dialogue to help control the spread of infection. Your donation will help us scale up this critical work.
Conflict, Mpox, Ebola and cholera have already claimed countless lives in DRC. Oxfam is working to control and prevent further spread of Ebola by ensuring safe water and sanitation for affected communities. Containing the outbreak now is essential. If it reaches densely populated urban centres, the consequences for millions already living through one of the world's worst humanitarian crises could be catastrophic. With your help, we can act now and save lives.
