Because of your generous support, Auntie Grace and the children have packed up and made the move to Gulu. They are living in a rented house for a couple of months until they find the perfect plot of land to eventually call HOME! The children have now gone back to school for their second semester of the year… they will all finish up the year in the schools they were at previously, just because it is very difficult to move them mid-way. The plan is to have everyone settled (some in day schools near their new home) for the beginning of the school year in February.

Auntie Grace has been working hard trying to find the perfect plot of land. In the process we are learning about the difficulties with land in Gulu. Land grabbing is common-place. In the past couple of years, many people are making their way back to the North, because the conflict is over, only to find that their land has been sold. For the last 2 plots we were looking at, someone in the family was selling the land, but not everyone in the family was agreeing that it be sold. We are trying to be cautious so we don’t run into legal trouble later. As excited as we are about being able to buy the land, we are trying to remain patient until we find the perfect spot!
We will keep you posted as we continue on this journey. During this upcoming school holiday in August, the children will spend it in Gulu for the first time! This will be very new for them!
Please continue to join with us as we fight for these young people that have such strength and talent to share. With so many things to always be thinking about in this world, thank you for thinking about these young people and continuing to show your much needed support. Please continue to give, in whatever way you can! We still need funds to build on the land once it is bought, and to purchase necessary household supplies and furniture for Auntie Grace and the children. Spread the word amongst your co-workers, friends and family, hold your own fundraiser, or consider becoming a monthly donor!
