Progress Report On Out Run EBOLA: Awareness / Protection For Children, August 1, 2018

Achievements:

  • THINK safe Homes received 4 new admissions:  3 Human Trafficking cases and Runaway = 1 case for this reporting period. Age disaggregation: (0-5) =  0, (6-12) = 1, (13-17) = 3, (>18) = 0.
  • Three survivors of Human Trafficking were reunified during this quarter. Two residents went for follow-up hospital visits, Nine residents received individual counseling, eleven survivors received group counseling and five follow up visits were made.  All of the eleven residents participated in Creative Arts, Health Talks, Educational Classes and Recreational Activities.
  • Renovation work and Painting of the two homes have been completed. Many thanks to our donors for this much needed work!
  • The Academic Year 2017/2018 has ended with three of the girls getting promotions to the next grade. One person was promoted from K-2 to 1st Grade, one from 3rd Grade to 4th Grade and the other girl from 4th Grade to 5th Grade. These three girls attend the community school.
  • THINK participated in a One-Day Celebration of Menstruation and Hygiene at the Mason Center High School in Montserrado County, under the theme: “Menstruation is NOT A TABOO LET’S TALK ABOUT IT”.  The awareness sessions were conducted with 50 adolescent girls between the ages 9-17 years old.
  • THINK participated in the two-day stakeholders’ forum for the  revision of the National Action Plan on Human conducted by Ministry of Labor on behalf of the national Anti Trafficking Task Force with support from IDLO.
  • THINK Safe Homes cater to mostly girls who are survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence including Human Trafficking mostly from rural to urban areas. The safe homes are one of the longest existing safe homes in Liberia. For the past four years, THINK has not received any subsidy from the Liberian government and has been supported by donors like you who have kept our doors open. Because of the lack of adequate funding, THINK has not been able to renovate the two buildings. Funding that has come in has been directed to paying for the rent of the buildings and providing food and personal hygene materials, clothing, medications and tioletries for the residents.
  • Thank you for your genrous financial gifts!
