Dear Donors, Friends and Well-wishers around the world,
Greetings to each and every one from the hearts of all the children at "little HEARTS orphanage", Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh State of India.
We are glad to see and talk to you through this Quarterly GG report.
Hope everything well there with you all.
In our State Andhra Pradesh, (AP) not just in AP almost all over India it's examinations time and from Ist Standard to Degree students it's time for tension among the every student.
Our children of "little HEARTS orphanage" also do not escape from this tension time of examinations.
Education Departments of Andhra Pradesh State have decided to conduct Annual examinations to all Elementary, High Schools, and Intermediate (College) and Degree students. Intermediate examinations will be conducted from 1st March, for Elementary and High Schools from 6th March
and for Degree students will be conducted from 10th April.
On 12th morning of this month, a lady and a man from Child Line conducted a surprise visit (it's like Police)!
Both of them verified all the related records and surprised when they saw Idlis as breakfast and also tasted, because almost in all orphanages and children's homes it's not possible to serve Idlis as breakfast because it takes time and little bit expensive. Inspected every nook and corner of LHO and finally they felt happy and appreciated our services. Also gave some instructions and tips.
*Note from The River Fund: "Idli is a traditional breakfast in South Indian households. Idli is a savoury cake that is popular throughout India and neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka. The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils and rice. The fermentation process breaks down the starches so that they are more readily metabolized by the body."
Children are well and as I mentioned above, studying day and night! As a Director of LHO, I am little strict with the children to prepare them mentally to attempt exams and to pass with above good marks from December to March. Always I encourage them to be a successful students and good citizens of our country India. In my each personal meeting with the each child, I remind them about your generosity and hardly earned money from your pockets.
We have four boys and one girl Priyanka 1st year and a boy attending 2nd year Intermediate exams. Two boys attending for 10th class examinations which will held from 18th March. One boy Charan attending 1st year Degree exams.
Ramu is now final year Civil Engineering and the 4 year course will be completed by this May. He is the first boy with higher education going out. Padma is doing her 2nd year B.Sc. Nursing at St. Joseph’s Nursing College.
Tomorrow we are going to visit four little girls who lost father few years ago and a week ago their mother also died in a car crash who had been working as a housemaid in Kuwait. They are living in Rapur which is more than 70kms. I am trying to contact the Eenadu News Paper which is largely circulated news paper in Telugu speaking States Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. We are very curious and anxious to meet the children and bring them to LHO.
Dear donors, this is all happening through your kind and generous donations.
In this connection, I request you all please try to donate more to give a good life to these orphans, abandoned, neglected and downtrodden children of Nellore and nearby Districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.
Please see the attached attachment for donations received from local kind local people of Nellore.
This is C.P.Kumar reporting from LHO through the River Fund.
Kind regards
C.P.Kumar
