There are approximately 2500 children living in the central province of Sri Lanka, without their parents. These children are living in extended family homes or with guardians. Unlike the children living in our orphanages, who receive adequate food, clothing and education, these children often do without basic needs. Many of these families living in poverty often struggle to provide for themselves and certainly for the children they have taken into their homes.
Because donations are typically channelled into the orphanage centres of Sri Lanka, children living without their natural parents do not receive the attention and care that is so vital to their success. Children are often left unsupervised as they are not attending schools. The mental health needs of the children, who are often depressed and anxious, add more problems to the central Province.
Those children are undergoing a large amount of hardships. They don't get sufficient amount of food and nutrition. They don't have educational requirements as book, uniforms, shoes, school bags and more other Educational needs. Because of those hardships they don't have good mental condition for Learning. The Foundation had estimated the cost for addressing the needs of this population is at $12,000 per year. We will provide formal oversight and monitoring of the program to record the progress.
Most of them leave from their schools before completion the secondary Education. When they been elders carried out many anti social activities. It will harm the society as a whole. Our Organisation is to significantly raise the standard of living of the 210 identified children in our program. The Foundation realizes that providing nutrition, education and emotional support for these children will result in happier, healthier children.
