Thank you for your kind donation which is helping to support around two hundred organic banana farming families in Ecuador and Peru to introduce large scale organic composting facilities in their communities which will make a significant impact in improving their livelihoods.
Although we have yet to raise our full target amount – we are about 60% there – the money raised so far does mean that work has been able to begin on the initial stages of the work in both countries.
At the Cendero Foundation/Asoproliflo in Ecuador they are starting with work on the construction of the composting biofactory itself, while at Agro Peru Chira they are starting with training of their farmers in organic composting processes.
In the meantime, we continue our fundraising campaign with hopes of reaching our target amount of £17,800. Among the notable donations have been those from the Unicorn Organic Grocery Cooperative in Manchester, UK, and Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito "Santa Rosa" Ltda in Ecuador. (Pictured). While these donations have been significant, all donations, big or small have been gratefully received and appreciated by the farmers who need every penny they can get.
In our latest project video, two of the farmers in Ecuador, talking from the site on which their biofactory will be built, explain how the project will benefit them, including the women farmers who hope they will be able to create a better future for their children.
