On June 17th Opus 118 Harlem School of Music celebrated another successful year of providing quality music instruction to children in East Harlem through our In-School and After-School Programs.
The 2010-2011 school year culminated with the annual End-of-the-Year concert celebrating the students in our In-School Program. More than 100 students performed at The American Academy of Arts and Letters for an appreciative audience of family, friends, and community members. Our In-School Program provides students at our partner schools with instruments and teachers for violin and cello instruction, and we look forward to working with these remarkable schools again in the fall!
This spring, students in our After-School Program’s performance groups gave back to the community of Harlem by playing at The Studio Museum in Harlem, El Museo del Barrio, and at local hospitals. Music Within, the early childhood curriculum used in the After-School Program, had a very successful spring semester last year onsite at Opus 118 and offsite at partnering Head Start programs. The After-School Program will begin again this fall with Music Within classes and private, partner, and group instrumental instruction.
We hope you will make a gift in support of Opus 118 Harlem School of Music at this time, so we can continue to provide quality music instruction in the 2011-2012 school year.
