OperationREAD is a ProjectEDUCATE initiative that improves access to reading materials in schools by donating educational textbooks.
The initiative has not had funding since early this year and while this is a challenge we continue to run the reading program for over twenty (20) underprivileged out of school children aged between four (4) and (10) years old. The initiative is also proving English language lessons for disadvantaged adults free of charge. It is hoped that the initiative will help empower both children and adults by teaching them to read which will in turn help broaden their horizons and open doors for them.
In addition to running the reading program, the initiative is also supporting the school library at a partner school through the provision of management support with the goal of improving operations at the library.
The fundraising challenge still remains and we are yet to meet our fundraising goal. This means a number of the goals we had set out to achieve are yet to be achieved. We continue to explore possibilities and partnerships that will help us meet the fundraising target that enable successful implementation.
We thank and encourage previous donors to consider supporting the initiative with a monthly tax-deductible donation of $10 to help accomplish the goal
