We are solving the problem of Disabled Veterans not having any Government support for maintaining their Service Dog. The VA does not allocate any funds to support the costs of feeding or maintaining a Service Dog that's helping a Veteran with a Service Connected Disability. The expenses of the dog's service equipment, ongoing service specific training, dog food, veterinary care, insurance, grooming, etc. come out of what's left in the Veteran's pocket.
High volumes of Veterans have come home with significant, life altering injuries and illnesses that could be treated in part by the work of a Service Dog. Many cannot afford the medical treatments they need, and the VA does not prescribe Service Dogs.
Feed the Dog, Inc. solves this problem by supporting the Veteran with the expenses to maintain their Service Dog. This includes items such as premium dog food (no junk!) veterinary care, insurance, grooming, ongoing service specific training, specialized equipment and more.
We believe this program will enhance the quality of life for the Veteran, improve the health of the Service Dog, and allow this team to thrive together.
