Today, many millions of people cannot access higher education due to financial, availability, or societal constraints. Tuition rates are skyrocketing worldwide. UNESCO stipulates by 2025, 98 million individuals will be unable to attend university because there won't be enough places at existing universities. There is an online tuition-free solution - University of the People. Launched in 2009, UoPeople overcomes barriers to education to 1500+. UoPeople needs your help to educate more students.
Millions of people are constrained from accessing higher education because of seating availability limitations, as well as financial, geographic, societal or personal constraints. UoPeople has successfully developed a solution to this problem. In only about three years, UoPeople has admitted more than 1500 students from 135 countries and garnered support from top academics. However, UoPeople can and should do more to open the gates even wider.
The non-profit UoPeople has succeeded in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education and provides tuition-free quality education entirely online. This feat was made possible by coupling open educational resources, free-use open source technology, peer to peer learning with instructor oversight, and the assistance of volunteers. We are already doing much, and yet, so many more students are applying in need of tuition-free education. We can help them - with your support.
Many of our existing students provide feedback on the life-changing experience of attaining the education they desperately needed. For example, Sebukware, who survived the Rwandan genocide, but lost his father, their land, and their livelihood. He is now a student at UoPeople - Sebukware was given his chance. First it's the improvement of an individual, then a better community, country, and ultimately, the world. It all starts with opening doors to higher education for those otherwise denied.
