1560 people are drinking water from a muddy water pond, and need your help to install hand water pump to supply clean water.
Life is very difficult in Onura sub village. Most people are subsistence farmers who grow crops, and animals just to feed their families. Most villagers have no education with their children who always end up subsistence farmers just like their poor parents.
These villagers have no access to clean drinking water, and children wake up very early in the morning and walk miles over miles to nearby streams to fetch drinking water for domestic purposes. “Fetching water” is regarded women’s duty in south Sudan, and this denies most girls from schooling.
Most of the streams are full of water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid, and Bilharzias. Guinea worm disease for example is a major health problem in Magwi County as a whole.
Due to water scarcity in Onura sub village, most people in these areas suffer from water-scarce diseases like trachoma and scabies.
Through our GlobalGiving kind donors, Hope Ofiriha has raised $250, and the fund is in Hope Ofiriha’s bank account. We are still fundraising until the budget goal of this project is reach. The project will be implemented when Hope Ofiriha gets the funding.
