People in ONURA sub village are acutely affected by the lack of access to clean drinking water. This year 45 children got sick before the age of 5 - due to causes related to water-borne illnesses according to the local medical officer who visited. The 1560 people are in need of safe water. Without this, the already overburdened women will bear the added stress of healthcare, and loss of school days for girls use to fetch water from a long distance.
A woman’s responsibility is to fetch water with a baby on her back from 10km water spring source for their families. Hope Ofiriha wants to provide the rural community with a hand held water pump but to raise funds for this worthwhile project has proven difficult. But we are hopeful with the help from our GlobalGiving donors “a Hand-held water pump” will be coming soon.
We appreciate your supports to this project, and will be working with you until the goal of this project is fully achieved. You will be hearing from us in the next three (3) months again with new project updates.
Thanks for your ongoing supports!
