Thank you again for your contributions, feedback and your kind donations! We've received so many encouraging comments that we’ve decided to go ahead with the project... which also means that we're still accepting donations :)
Our goal: To educate and empower kids (ages 10-12) on online privacy. Before launching ourselves, we had a look around to analyse existing work in this field in order to fill the gaps. We've also collected information on what kind of formats and themes our target group would appreciate the most.
We're excited to build on the really good work that is already out there – by our national members (like the Chaos macht Schule, from CCC and Digitale Gesellschaft in Germany, AptiRo in Romania, Modern Poland Foundation or Metamorphosis in Macedonia), and others like the Internetstiftelsen in Sweden...
...and we've now started with the creation of a booklet by mapping our network for specialists to contribute with contents related to their topics of expertise.
The booklet will be composed of 7-10 chapters, including for example hands-on guides and cartoons. The individual chapters will also serve as the basis for stand-alone flyers focusing on one single topic. All of the material produced will be made available as free downloads on our website so that it can be easily printed and used in schools, at home and elsewhere. We will distribute printed copies in as many countries as we can.
The chapters will focus on questions such as
We hope to have a first draft of the material within the next couple of months, to start printing and translating into many different languages during the first months of 2016. If our resources allow it, we will produce additional detailed background information for parents and teachers, as well as suggested exercises and activities to support learning.
If you have suggestions concerning the contents or format of this educational material, we would be happy to hear your ideas and tips. If you're interested in getting involved in the project and in helping us to translate or distribute the material once it's ready, please let us know by sending us an email to brussels(at)edri.org!
By the way: We continue to accept donations for this project – the more we can collect, the more translations and print-outs we can do and the more we can distribute in schools!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
