While their parents labor to create products sold around the world, the 1.2 million children of factory workers in Vietnam often spend their days without the simple care and attention needed to thrive. With 20 years of success in helping vulnerable children, we know how to positively change young lives and on Sept. 5th are opening our first Early Learning Center for the children of factory workers in DaNang, Vietnam. Just a month to go, and we still need some basic supplies to outfit the center!
Economic development in Vietnam is progressing at lightning speed. Thousands of families have migrated from rural areas to work in the factories fueling Vietnam's new prosperity. With both parents often working long hours a cottage daycare industry has emerged. As many as 40 or 50 children may be looked after by one or two adults for 12+ hours a day, and are not receiving the care, love or attention they need to grow healthy and happy.
Our new OneSky Early Learning and Training Center will serve approximately 250 children, with a local staff of 55, including teachers, trainers, caregivers, and administrators. We will provide the children with OneSky's standard of care: personalized attention with fun activities that stimulate and excite kids, promoting every child's healthy and happy development at all levels. You can help by donating much-needed items for the children from our wishlist ...let's finish our build together!
OneSky has committed to establish, implement and build local capacity and bring our approach to thousands of children in DaNang. And this is just the start of a systemic change in early childhood development that can and will be achieved by the Vietnamese government, home-based daycare providers and parents across the country. With 20 years of experience behind us, we know how to do this. We hope you will join us on this new and exciting journey!
