10,000 Beds coordinates addiction treatment scholarships for addicts who desperately need and want help but are completely without resources. Our application process is rigorous and serves as a screening and placement process that most treatment programs do not have the resources to conduct for scholarship awardees. 10,000 Beds provides a dual service: 1) by helping addicts find the right treatment and 2) by helping treatment centers scholarship their empty beds with the right candidates.
With nearly 44,000 deaths a year, more Americans today die from drug overdoses than from car accidents or any other type of injury. The national death rate from drug overdoses more than doubled from 1999 to 2013 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Many of these deaths could be prevented if patients had better access to substance abuse therapy (USA Today, May 2015). A survey conducted by SAMHSA found that as many as 90 percent of people who most need drug rehab do not receive it.
Long-term recovery and sustained sobriety are achievable for everyone who is struggling with addiction or substance abuse issues; people just need access to the appropriate tools. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration states recovery is built on access to evidence-based clinical treatment and recovery support services for all populations. 10,000 Beds provides that access where not possible otherwise.
SAMHSA has established a working definition of recovery that defines recovery as a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and strive to reach their full potential.Every dollar invested in treatment saves $4 to $7 in reduced drug-related crime, criminal justice courts and thefts, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The ong-term impacts of reducing deaths by overdose and increasing sustained recovery are immeasurable
