NAFASI TRAINING OF TRAINERS(TOT)

We recently conducted a three-day Training of Trainers (TOT) under our Nafasi program. The goal was to equip our trainers with the skills and confidence to deliver Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) content in a child-friendly, age-appropriate, and engaging way. This training forms part of Nafasi’s mission to create safe spaces where children feel heard, protected, and empowered.

Day 1 began with great energy as participants got to know each other, set ground rules, and built a supportive learning environment. We explored topics such as adolescence and puberty, ensuring the content was presented in ways children can easily understand and relate to. The day laid a strong foundation for delivering sensitive information with empathy, clarity, and cultural sensitivity.

On Day 2, the focus shifted to understanding and managing relationships, exploring gender dynamics, and addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). Trainers practiced facilitating these discussions sensitively, making sure they remained inclusive and child-friendly. This day also emphasized strengthening facilitation techniques so trainers can lead sessions that are engaging, safe, and responsive to children’s needs.

Day 3 brought together all the learning from the previous sessions. We covered good touch versus bad touch, confusing touch, and strategies for stress and trauma management. Practical facilitation exercises gave participants the opportunity to practice delivering content interactively and in an age-appropriate manner. By the end of the day, trainers demonstrated greater confidence and preparedness to engage with children effectively.

This Nafasi TOT has strengthened our team’s ability to reach children with knowledge that protects, educates, and empowers them. It directly supports our broader mission for Nafasi as providing safe, supportive, and interactive learning environments.
