We intend to establish a child protection center with mobile services which will offer children and the youth in Mwala Sub- County (a rural part of Kenya) with psychosocial assistance, including professional counseling services and child-/youth-friendly life skills programs. Additionally, it will provide consultancy services on a range of matters impacting children and families. The center will also refer clients to the appropriate authorities or institutions when necessary.
Community members and children lack access to consultation services where they can get support to deal with behavioral challenges amongst children. Because of this, substance abuse and unexpected pregnancies are common amongst children in rural areas. Cases of sexual offenses committed against children are rarely made due to the absence of suitable reporting mechanisms. There is also a deficiency in these areas in relevant organizations that offer prompt interventions for child protection.
The center will provide free consultations for the mentioned issues. It will also offer referral services to the appropriate authorities to avoid cases being hidden within families. Additionally, it would enable children to participate in educational programs to get the life skills necessary to resist peer/social pressure to conceal significant issues that violate their rights. More people will be able to access services thanks to regular mobile consultation services in the area.
Children who have been exposed to abuse can talk about their problems to get the help they need. Children will also be able to prevent issues such as drug abuse through education and consultative sessions. The community will be able to recognize issues with parenting, legal ignorance, and the need for child protection. Ultimately, there will be fewer instances of child abuse, and children will grow up to be decent citizens who contribute to the future prosperity of their community and country.
