Mirai Future of Kenya remains devoted to uplifting the future of children through our Individual Sponsorship Program. Our rigorous selection process is designed to ensure that we identify the most deserving candidates, leveraging local expertise and community insights. This report details our recent activities undertaken to select the next cohort of beneficiaries.
Our selection journey commenced with a pivotal meeting at the Mwala Children's Office. Engaging directly with the Children's Officer, we discussed the engagement of select Child Protection Volunteers (CPVs) across candidate locations. These volunteers were essential in providing localized insights into each applicant's background. We also engaged with the current County Coordinator from the Directorate of Children's Services in Machakos County. This collaboration has been helping align our program with broader child welfare policies and ensure comprehensive support for sponsored children.
Our team conducted in-depth field visits in several key locations to gather information about the applicants (Kinyui, Mbiuni, Kathama, and Kyawango). In these areas, our interactions with CPVs were invaluable. Volunteers shared critical information about the applicants' socioeconomic backgrounds and the challenges they face in accessing education.
As part of the program's holistic approach, we disseminated business proposal forms to potential applicants at Mlolongo and at the Mwala Probation and Aftercare Service Office. This initiative was aimed at gathering detailed insights into the applicants' business ideas, fostering entrepreneurship alongside educational support. This component also allows us to explore innovative ways to empower youth through entrepreneurship, enhancing the impact of our sponsorship program.
Through rigorous fieldwork and community engagement, Mirai Future of Kenya is committed to selecting candidates who will genuinely benefit from our sponsorship program. By understanding the unique challenges and opportunities each child faces, we ensure that our support is effective and transformative.
We invite our partners and supporters to continue their vital contributions. Your support enables us to expand our outreach and make significant, positive changes in the lives of children in Machakos County and beyond.
