One Million Tree Project

Introduction

This report provides an update on the progress of the One Million Tree Project following the previous reporting period (December 2025 – February 2026), during which substantial progress was made in developing the Fruit Tree Education Book.

During the current reporting period, the project entered a resource mobilization phase. While the technical development of the educational book remains largely complete, implementation activities requiring financial investment—including professional editing, graphic design, printing, and distribution—have not commenced due to limited funding. Consequently, no major physical milestones have been achieved during this period.

Despite these constraints, African Soul Initiative remains committed to the project's vision and continues to pursue opportunities for partnerships and financial support.

Current Project Status

The Fruit Tree Education Book remains in its advanced draft stage. The manuscript has been preserved and is ready for the next phase once adequate financial resources become available.

No changes have been made to the technical content since the previous reporting period, as the focus has primarily been on maintaining project readiness while exploring funding opportunities.

Activities Undertaken During This Reporting Period

Although implementation activities have been limited, the following actions have been undertaken:

1. Continued Resource Mobilization

African Soul Initiative continued identifying and engaging potential funding partners, development organizations, and well-wishers who may support the completion and publication of the Fruit Tree Education Book.

2. Project Documentation Management

All project documents, research materials, photographs, and manuscript files have been reviewed, organized, and securely maintained to ensure readiness for immediate implementation once funding is secured.

3. Stakeholder Communication

The project team maintained communication with selected community stakeholders and project supporters to keep them informed about the project's status and future plans.

4. Strategic Planning

Internal discussions were conducted to review the project's implementation strategy, ensuring that planned activities remain relevant and aligned with African Soul Initiative's environmental conservation objectives.

Challenges Encountered1. Insufficient Funding

The primary challenge continues to be the lack of financial resources necessary to advance the project into its final implementation phase. Funding is required for:

• Professional editing and proofreading
• Graphic design and page layout
• High-quality printing
• Distribution to schools and community groups

2. Delayed Implementation

The absence of funding has delayed the production and dissemination of the educational resource, postponing the anticipated impact within schools and local communities.

Project Outlook

The project remains active and ready for implementation once funding becomes available. The completion of the manuscript provides a strong foundation, allowing the project team to proceed quickly with production when resources are secured.

African Soul Initiative remains optimistic that future partnerships will enable the successful publication and distribution of the Fruit Tree Education Book.

Upon securing the required funding, the project team will immediately proceed with:

• Final professional editing and technical review.

During this reporting period, no significant implementation activities were undertaken due to funding constraints. Nevertheless, African Soul Initiative has continued to preserve the project's readiness, maintain stakeholder engagement, and pursue opportunities for resource mobilization.
