One Million Leaders Africa - OMLA So Far

The journey towards a brighter Africa starts with empowering its youth, that's the mission of One Million Leaders Africa (OMLA). Through the 2023 Fellowship, we have raised 268 young leaders, impacting their communities positively by solving social and environmental problems in 15 communities from 9 countries. Take a peek into the successes shaping a greener, more sustainable future for Africa:

Transforming young minds: Over 2,390 passionate young Africans have been trained in sustainable leadership and equipped with essential skills in social and business entrepreneurship through the OMLA fellowship.
Nurturing local heroes: The 2023 OMLA Bootcamp empowered 100 young farmers’ children from rural communities in Nigeria with knowledge and resources to develop leadership and sustainability skills, improve community resilience, and build skills for small business to support their education needs.
Sparking a ripple effect: Strengthened cross-regional ties facilitating collaborative efforts towards sustainability have improved the experience of Fellowship participants (OMLA Fellows and Stars) in community building and engagement, leading to increased self-sufficiency and improved resilience for local communities through community-led projects. OMLA Fellows successfully lead the implementation of sustainability projects, with an emphasis on improving resilience against environmental and economic challenges.
2024 Cohort in view: We are ready to scale up and admit over 100 fellows on the journey where they will unleash their leadership potential, raise other 10,000 young leaders (50 per fellow) and then dive deep into hands-on community projects with our hybrid fellowship.

The enthusiasm for our initiatives is evident, from just over 100 applications received in 2022 to over 2,000 in 2023 and over 13,000 from 40 countries in Africa in 2024, which speaks volumes about the program's effectiveness and the growing desire for sustainable leadership across Africa.

This is just the beginning! Since 2022, we have covered a total of 21 countries in Africa, engaged 2400+ sustainability Leaders initiated 40+ community projects and conducted 100+ training sessions on leadership, social entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability. This year we hope to raise over 10,000 leaders and sponsor them to execute 50 community-change projects across Africa.
