A 7.2 earthquake rocked the poor southwestern provinces of Haiti, which still bear deep scars from a devastating quake in 2010. Over 2000 are dead; 5000 are injured. The Rava Foundation has extensive experience in disaster zones, especially in Haiti: we've been active here since 1987, running the only 2 functioning hospitals in the capital, 36 schools & medical clinics. Right now, with the HELP of people like YOU, we are providing immediate shelter & medical care for the most vulnerable victims.
The quake's epicenter was 12km from one of our structures. We are dealing with immeasurable damage and countless victims in Jeremie & Saint Louis du Sud, where our St. Luke Foundation runs schools and medical clinics. Hundreds of families, out of fear and necessity, now sleep outside on streets ruled by ruthless, violent gangs. The situation is untenable. These children & their families need water, food, medical care, protection, and REAL shelter. We must avoid the formation of tent cities.
The Rava Foundation can provide immediate & lasting aid, thanks to 34+ years experience on the front lines in Haiti. We're deeply embedded & trusted by the community. We run the only 2 functioning hospitals in the capital, plus schools & medical clinics all over Haiti. Fr./Dr. Rick Frechette & team have already organized mobile clinics & ambulances to bring medicine, water, food & bandages to victims. At St. Luke Hospital, we offer free CT scans & X-rays, plus 50 beds to the unhoused.
Our fund helps first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, water, medicine, fuel & shelter. As needs emerge, our own hospitals will provide aid to the injured & we pledge to share medicine & supplies w/ the other few hospitals in Haiti. Our efforts are targeted, rational, and local. We speak directly w/ those most affected & what they need most are roofs over their heads. So we will shelter 250 families near the epicenter by providing sheet metal & roofing to build real housing.
